- OPTIMIZATION OF THE ISING SPIN GLASS This topic is primarily
computational, using algorithms that are exact apart from precision
problems associated with floating point arithmetic. The primary goal at
this time is the computation of spin correlation functions.
- DROPLET AGGREGATION PROCESSES This topic involves extensive
computer simulations to track the evolution of a system of growing and
coalescing fluid droplets. The empirical results are fitted to
theoretical models. Applications of these systems are diverse; including
nanotechnology, atmospheric science and cosmology.
- ELECTRON CORRELATION EFFECTS This topic concerns the quest for a
better understanding of the interactions between electrons in condensed
matter.
- OTHER TOPICS Computational experiments are of particular interest.
One possibility is stochastic treatment of biological, economic or
social systems. Such experiments are now known to include fluctuation
effects which are missed by traditional mean field treatments
(differential equations).
