Thailand Environmental Institute

(July 3, 2008) Thailand Environmental Institute will be 15 years old in a few weeks. As a result, they plan to have a special seminar on Global Warming and Our Adaptations at IMPACT, Mueng Thong Thani. However, the topics discussed today were about human resource on the issue of global warming and climate change. [Read more..]
Students and Faculty Meeting 2008

(June 28, 2008) Center on Environmental Health, Toxicology and Management of Chemicals organized a meeting for their students and academic members at the Convention Center, Chulabhorn Research Institute. Global Warming was used a discussion topic. The students were given the task to design experiment or solution to the problem. Our students also won a few prizes in the process. [Read more..]
Cells: Structure and Function

(June 23-27, 2008) All organisms are made up of one or more cells as well as being a fundamental unit of life demonstrated that how important the cells are. Given that the students should be familiar with microscopes from the previous practice, they were given various specimen to have a go with slide preparation, using microscope to see the specimen, and sketch those images of cells they saw. Teacher Day 2008

(June 19, 2008) One species of plant was missing from this year Teacher Day, Ixora chinensis or "Khem". Vibrant reddish bloom against its dark green leaf, its name and floral morphology can be inferred to cleverness. [Read more..]

This traditional event took place almost everywhere at Mahidol University. In the morning, the first-year students had their own ceremony at Salaya. The faculty of science held their version of the event in L-01 while our department use N101. [See photo]
Practical Skill in Microscopy

(June 16-20, 2008) Microscopy is one of the most important tools in biology. Operating various kinds of microscopes are important for the students from this laboratory to their later career paths.[Read more..]
Biology Lab Orientation 2008

(June 9-13, 2008) Biology Laboratory orientation took place at SC3 building, Salaya. Students were told about laboratory regulations and how they will be assessed throughout the term. The first lab will be about microscopes.[Read more..]

Presessional Science Camp 2008

(May 20, 2008) Aj.Skorn, Faculty of Science's dean, came to Salaya to open the 4th Presessional Science Camp, that took place between 19-25 of May 2008. Special seminar on Mahidol University and Science Development was followed by the meeting with the office of educational affair. Aj.Rapee, Aj.Watchareeporn, Aj.Rattanawichit, and me were also present with hundreds of students during the morning event. [Read more..]

Biodiversity Online Course Orientation

(April 26, 2008) The online course for Biodiversity was online again after a maintenance period. Aj.Pilai came to give us a talk on the biodiversity of hornbills in Thailand as a lot of us still confused hornbills with toucan the birds. Participants were led here to the Bio-Geo Path and the Hornbills' Garden at the end of the orientation. [Report] [Discuss]

Basic Biology for Bloodbank

(April 18, 2008) Once every two years, students from Bloodbank programme return to study basic biology with our academic staff. Their course work completed today with the last ring of the lab final examination. Good luck :) [Report] [Link..]

DPST Summer Camp at Sakaerat

(April 2-8, 2008) Aj.Pahol, Aj.Nuttaphon and some of our DPST students went to Sakaerat Research Center to host a science camp with other DPST graduates from across Thailand. [Link.. (external)]

DPST Undergrad. Camp at Chula Univ. 2008

(Mar. 24-28,2008) The host did a good job for providing us with a great experience, especially if you were with me in group 5. As the beginning of the camp, we went to see how the urban human excreta was treated to become nightsoil, the second excursion took us to the border between the land and the sea. We planted some mangroves while struggled through mud and water. Some of the students even got themselve cut with the exoskeleton of mud-dwellers there. [Link..]

Congress on Science and Technology for Youths 2008

(Mar. 22-23,2008) The 3th Congress on Science and Technology brought all scholarship-supported students to present their project at BITEC Bang-Na. Farewell 2008

(Feb. 22, 2008) -- We gathered in N101 to say farewell to each other. On behalf of the biology staff, we wish them well (and hopefully our representatives could bring more honour to our department by beating everyone else in the 9th Science Project Exhibition).

(Jan. 23, 2008) -- Unlucky earthworm was dissected and pinned to the board. It was too small to locate its organs, eventhough most of the organs were repetitive and present in most of its somites. From SCBI214 Annelids demonstration laboratory at MUKan.

Development Lab Demonstration II

(Jan. 21, 2008) -- It's the return of the biggest egg in Salaya. Unfortunately, it's just a model for the students to have a look at the structure inside. Many models of chick and human embryo were everywhere in the lab today. Before the reports could be accepted, the students must answer some questions, just like the previous week.
